Hi Anton,

In connection with the Belgian euro coins, where do you get that information, is this information reliable?
In Belgium we know nothing. The coin dealers also know nothing,
In the National bank in Brussels you can only buy used re-packed coins. where are those coins available?

Regards
Luc

Hi Luc,
a French website published the Belgian mintage figures for 2018 and 2019 a few weeks ago. Usually they are very well informed. It also fits with a Belgian newspaper article from last summer wich said that Belgium was running out of 10 & 20 Cents wich should be additionally produced in 2018 or 2019 and argued about the benefits of abolishing 1 & 2 Cent coins from the Belgian governements point of view.
Here are the mintage figures:

2018:

1 Cent: 0
2 Cent: 0
5 Cent: 5.300.000
10 Cent: 12.300.000
20 Cent: 0
50 Cent: 0
1 Euro: 0
2 Euro: 0

2019:

1 Cent: 0
2 Cent: 0
5 Cent: 10.000.000
10 Cent: 5.000.000
20 Cent: 21.000.000
50 Cent: 12.000.000
1 Euro: 0
2 Euro: 3.200.000 (regular issue featuring the kings head)

I don't know where and wenn this coins will be available. Maybe they just produced them to refill the national banks stock and won't be released into circulation for some years. At least this seems to be the case for the 2018 French 50 Cent coins of wich almost 27 million were minted but as far as I know they aren't available until now.

@BadVariemai thanks for the Greece mintage figures!

Hi Anton,

Thank you for the explanation. I had the Belgian euros unc for exchange, but since they no longer mint coins themselves, the Belgian swappers can hardly touch them anymore. it's a good thing for the national banks, they make a lot of money if we all buy a bu set.

Regards
Luc

Edit:
- Austria also has minted 1€ coins for circulation
- at least 1, 2 & 10 Cent from Slovenija have been minted for circulation, perhaps more denominations will follow
